Initial Family Application

$100.00

Maryland Filing fee – non-refundable fee is due to the Maryland Society when the applicant is the child, sibling, spouse or line carrying parent of a MD society member in good standing. More than one such family member may apply at the same time provided that all those applications are for the same line of descent. Each must supply a preliminary review worksheet to the Historian and pay the filing fee. However, if the candidate is under 18 years of age, the Junior Membership process must be followed.

Maryland Filing fee – non-refundable filing fee is due to the Maryland Society when the applicant presents the completed preliminary review worksheet or its equivalent to the Historian. Applicants must be 18 year of age or older. If the candidate is not eligible to join but would like to participate in the society, consider a Friend of the Maryland Society membership

Supplemental Application Fee

$75.00

Maryland Filing fee – non-refundable filing fee is due to the Maryland Society when the preliminary review worksheet is presented to the Historian. More than one family member may apply at the same time provided that those applications are for the same line of descent. Each must provide a preliminary review worksheet and pay the filing fee.

Maryland Application fees are not refundable and are paid at the beginning of that activity.  Application fees may be paid through the website or by check when the Preliminary Review is submitted. Send checks to the State Historian.

The Maryland Application fee structure may be changed without notice.  The current fee structure is:

  • Initial Application – $200 Maryland Filing fee – This is an initial application.
  • Initial Application – $100 Maryland Filing fee –This is an initial application for child, sibling or parent of a member of the Maryland Mayflower Society in good standing. The candidate must be 18 or older.
  • Supplemental Application – $75 Maryland Filing fee

GSMD application fees are not refundable: If and when the Maryland Historian approves your application for transmission to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Plymouth for final review, and hopefully approval, a non-refundable GSMD fee of $150 must accompany it. We will ask for that fee at the time we send your completed and Maryland approved application to you for signature.

Annual Membership Dues: Member annual dues are $65.00. The dues are discounted to $55.00 for prompt payments.  Life Members of the Maryland State Society have prepaid these dues for the duration of their membership.

Electronic Payment of certain Fees – Maryland and GSMD

Electronic Payments of application review and certain related fees:  Electronic payments of GSMD application review and certain other related fees can be executed using the On-Line Form Submission option. 
– If your objective is only to pay a fee, do name the Pilgrim involved, but it is not necessary to provide the data called for subsequently in the Ancestor Information segment. 
– If you are paying on behalf of an applicant, answer “no” when asked if the client information is the same as the applicant information and fill out the Applicant fields. 
– Please do use the comments block to describe your intent and to identify which historian you are already working with.

Disclaimer

This is not an application, it is a Preliminary Review Worksheet. The state society historians will validate up to the first five generations from the named Pilgrim using resources available to them. If the proposed lineage passes this initial test, the historians will enter your proposed lineage into the application process for the society. If a close family member has recently joined the Mayflower Society, please provide their General Society and Member Society numbers (e.g. GS 12345, MA 9876). Similarly, if this is a supplemental application, please provide the applicant’s existing General Society and Member Society numbers.


Ancestor Information


You may download and print the Maryland Mayflower Preliminary Review Form, and complete your lineage. This form along with a check made out to the Maryland Mayflower Society for the appropriate filing fee should be mailed to the Maryland Mayflower Society Historian at the following address:

Post-Review Application Process

You will prepare an application for Membership after your preliminary form has been reviewed and approved.  Applicants are expected to finish the process within two years.

4) Your application has been approved by the Historian General of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants
